We Shall Overcome

Charlie Sykes is a genius. Here is his latest work of audio mastery (transcript)

In the audio piece, Doyle is compared to racist governors Orval Faubus and George Wallace for his WEAC influenced vetoes of school choice in Milwaukee.

The audio is great, check it out!

If making unwieldy, slanderous comparisons is what constitutes genius, we've quite succeeded in lowering the collective bar.

Nate,
Explain how this is slanderous? The comparisions are justified. How many white students are effected by Jim Doyle's caps? The democrats are doing the same thing they always do: take minorities and college students as guaranteed votes and treat them like crap!

Don't play dumb. The comparisons are obviously hyperbolic and meant to insult. I mean, George Wallace? That's a name with such symbolic resonance that choosing to compare someone to him is a conscious attack on credibility, a false and injurious piece of contrast, and, therefore, slanderous.

People who pick on our governer are anti-wisconsin, by the way, and are therefore aiding the Illini in the destruction of our great state.

Just some info from a Southern expatriate:

George Wallace began life as a fairly progressive figure, at least for a man of his time. But he lost his first bid for governor to a man who ran as a staunch segregationist. So the next time around, Wallace followed suit. He, of course, won big.

Some years later, Wallace began to rethink his change in views and reverted to his more progessive ways. He opened up Alabama politics to minorities at an alarming rate, one that far eclipsed the Federal Government. So successful was his reversion, that he won reelction for his final term with an overwhelming majority of the black vote.

I just think it's interesting is all.
