US Sovereignty under Attack

Reports that the EU and a coalition of countries including Cuba, China, and Iran want joint control over the internet is a cause for concern. By giving other countries control over the internet, a system that the US Government has invested in heavily, the US will lose sovereignty over a major information network and a means of commerce, defense, and now a means of governance. Why do they want it? Because they think it “belongs to the world” now and they thus should not be under the control of one government. First, the US invented it, the US got it off the ground, the US set up a government agency to handle it, and the US helped other countries set it up. This is paramount to giving the United Nations control over our weather and communication satellites as well as our GPS constellation of satellites because other countries us those assets.

The question becomes, who is really behind this effort. Yes, France, Germany and even Great Brittan are major players, but the real force is China. Since the internet has become a major part of every day life in China, they have been hungry to get more control over content, mostly to oppress individual thought and opinion and this will make it even easier. If the US loses control of the internet, China wins. This is a proxy war few Americans know of and my happen with little fan fare or debate, yet it effects us all!

It does affect us. The proxy war with China is the new Cold War we need to wake up and smell.

China wants to topple the U.S. hegemon and replace it. Sure, it may support a multipolarity for know where the EU, China, and U.S. balance out spheres of global influence (hauntingly close to the three powers in Orwell's 1984), but doing so is only a means to an ends. Namely, one that has China predominant as king of the hill.

Long live the Communists! And we don't mean the wimpy living-wage, worker-rights variety in the U.S, that only got us the 40 hour work week and workers comp. We're talking about the big boys the world-beater types, you know the SOVIET UNION. They managed to contain the US War Machine for almost 50 years (OK, Korea, Vietnam, Central America excepted). Think Missiles of October, if not for the Soviets, Cuba would be a cinder, no more great cigars and mambo. Think of nuclear tipped missiles that the Hawks are using as bunker busters. Think we'd be tossing out treaties and threatening every regime if the Russkies still had some fight in 'em. The world is sad to see them go. How much terrorism was there against the US when the USSR was around to limit US aggression and provide a much more tempting target for jihadist angst? That's right, when the Russkies were real men, we got to be the allies of Bin-Laden against godless Communism!
